Honda HR-V Set to Launch Pure Electric Version

In China, both the e:NS1 and e:NP1 are available in two engine configurations; One is a front-mounted electric motor, producing 180 horsepower and 310Nm of torque, using energy from a 53.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The vehicle is capable of running 420km after each full battery charge, according to China's CLTC standards.

One difference compared to the e:Ny1 Prototype model is that there is no Honda lettering on the tailgate, located below the taillight cluster, but the usual logo (Photo: Honda).

The second option is a more powerful electric motor, producing 201 horsepower and 310Nm of torque. The battery pack has a capacity of 68.8 kWh, giving the car the ability to run up to 510km after each charge. Both have a maximum speed of 150 km/h.

Honda says it takes about 9 hours for the car to fully charge from the 5% mark, and about 9.5 hours for the larger battery. With the fast charging system, both cars are capable of charging the battery from 30 to 80% in just about 40 minutes.

The appearance of the e:Prototype SUV in Thailand raises speculation that the HR-V model will soon have a pure electric version. This is likely true, as Thailand is actively promoting the development of an ecosystem for electric vehicles and so are other ASEAN markets.
