The price of materials for producing electric cars has increased three times faster

According to According to a recent survey by financial consulting company AlixPartners, the price increase in materials used to produce electric vehicle batteries is faster than that of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles.

According to calculations by AlixPartners as of September 2022, the average material cost of electric vehicles is 5,076 USD, an increase of nearly 75% over the same period in 2020.


The cost of materials for producing internal combustion engine vehicles (including hybrid vehicles) also increased sharply, but not as much as electric vehicles, increasing 25% from 1,475 USD in 2020 to 1,851 USD this year.


The cost of materials for producing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) was not mentioned, but is likely to be higher than pure electric vehicles, according to Dario Duse, director of AlixPartners in Italy.
