The Mazda Arata Concept just launched at Auto China 2024 is a pure electric SUV similar to the Mazda CX-5.
At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show (Auto China 2024), Mazda brought many new products. One of them is an electric SUV concept called Arata (Japanese for "new"), expected to go on sale later this year.
Mazda Arata Concept represents Mazda's vision in the context of the global auto market entering a period of strong electrification.
Arata was developed by Changan Mazda, a 50:50 joint venture between Changan and Mazda established at the end of 2012. It is likely that the company will apply a different name to the commercial version of this concept, possibly a A cluster of letters and numbers similar to the names of current products.
Mazda Arata Concept belongs to the mid-size SUV segment on par with the CX-5. The overall design of the car looks sharper than many Mazda CX-60 to CX-90 SUVs that have been introduced by the Japanese brand recently. However, many familiar details are still there such as Mazda's signature radiator interface or taillights.
While the EZ-6 is developed based on the Changan Depal SL03, the EZ-60 will have many things in common with the Changan Deepal S7 SUV. However, the EZ-6 will still have many Mazda characteristics and be sold at a higher price than the Deepal S7.
Currently, the Japanese car company has not announced interior details and vehicle specifications. Mazda only said that Arata will have 2 hybrid drive options: PHEV or pure electric. If referring to the Deepal S7, the hybrid version will combine a 1.5L gasoline engine and a single electric motor for a pure electric range of 200km or 1,120km total. The pure electric version is capable of running a maximum of 620km and supports fast charging to 80% in 35 minutes.
According to the plan, the finished product version of Mazda Arata will be fully launched in 2025. Mazda has not announced plans to distribute this SUV model outside the Chinese market.
