Apple just released iOS 17.5.1 (and iPadOS 17.5.1) just a week after iOS 17.5 (and iPadOS 17.5) launched.
iOS 17.5.1 is one of the small updates of the iOS 17 operating system that Apple launched last September. Users can download iOS 17.5.1 (and iPadOS 17.5.1) on eligible iPhones (and iPads) over-the-air (OTA) by going to Settings > General > Software Update .
iOS 17.5.1 has just been suddenly released by Apple.
According to Apple's release notes, this iOS 17.5.1 update includes a fix for an issue that has made users extremely uncomfortable in the past, which could cause images to reappear in the gallery. Photos even long after they are deleted.
“This update provides important fixes and resolves a rare issue where database-corrupted photos could reappear in the Photos library even after they were deleted,” Apple posted download in the update description statement.
Back last week, a number of complaints were reported by users stating that both iPhones and iPads were able to display old photos that they had permanently deleted. These images suddenly appeared after updating to iOS 17.5.
iOS 17.5.1 was released just a week after iOS 17.5 appeared.
The sudden reappearance of deleted images in the past makes many people feel worried about their private photos. Apple's information in the iOS 17.5.1 description indicates that it was a database corruption issue and that the new update should resolve the issue.
iOS 16.7.1 is available for all iPhones that have not yet updated to iOS 17 version.
According to 9to5Mac, while many users may have switched to iOS 17 by now, the platform is not the choice of older iPhone and iPad owners. Or even many people don't like updating to the new version because of performance and battery life issues.
But overcoming security holes is always the top priority. Therefore, Apple has released iOS version 16.7.1 to patch important security holes for new and old iPhones, as well as devices that choose to maintain iOS 16.

Currently, Apple has not updated information on the company's security release website about new features included in iOS 16.7.1. What could happen, however, is that this update will fix a vulnerability that was patched for iOS 17 users last week when iOS 17.0.3 was released.
