Apple is pursuing an iPhone model that supports Vision Pro

Apple is pursuing an iPhone model with Vision Pro integration, is also researching a pair of AR glasses and developing the VisionOS 3 operating system.

In a recent report, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman said that Apple has been planning to pursue an iPhone model that integrates the Vision Pro virtual reality headset. Furthermore, the company is also working on a pair of AR glasses and developing the VisionOS 3 operating system.

Vision Pro was released in February this year at a price of 3,499 USD (about 89 million VND). Although it attracted a lot of interest, its price made it out of reach for most consumers and virtual reality enthusiasts. Gurman said even a discounted Vision Pro would be unaffordable for most people.

The Bloomberg analyst also compared the launch of Vision Pro to the launch of the iPhone and Apple Watch. The first iPhone was not an overnight global success, and it was the iPhone 3G's sharply reduced price that helped the phone reach consumers in large numbers.

Likewise, the Apple Watch didn't really get much attention until it introduced health and fitness tracking features. This is a huge advantage in practical use for a smart watch.

Gurman also stated that Apple's plan has always been to follow the iPhone development model. That means that in a few years Vision Pro will become a product line with both low-end and high-end models.

Gurman also suggested some ways Apple could create a cheaper version of Vision Pro, such as removing the EyeSight screen, using a lower quality screen instead of a high-resolution Micro-OLED screen. Or replace a processor chip with lower performance.

Gurman's report also claims that Apple is considering creating a cheaper variant of the headphones that can connect to other Apple devices to work. Maybe this version doesn't have a battery so it will have a lower price.

According to Gurman, Apple plans to develop a pair of AR glasses to launch in 2027, but according to his report based on the assessments of experts within Apple, this release date is unlikely to happen.

This comment is somewhat consistent with current reality when technology companies are still approaching EssilorLuxottica, the company that designs Ray-Ban smart glasses that support Meta, to seek partnerships. Potential focus on developing similar products.

Gurman also mentioned Apple is working on developing the next major update for Vision Pro, said to be codenamed "Discovery" and expected to be released next year.

No details have been given about VisionOS 3, but with the newly revealed codename, it can be seen that the update focuses on increasing the user experience with real-world applications.
