Samsung Galaxy S25 may use MediaTek chip instead of Snapdragon because of its high price.
According to some sources, Samsung is considering using MediaTek chipsets for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 as previously predicted. The reason is said to be due to the high cost of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, making it difficult for Samsung to maintain the desired profit level.
Samsung considered turning to MediaTek because Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips were too expensive.
Samsung has repeatedly encountered difficulties in producing Exynos 2500 chips due to 3nm performance issues. This causes the company to look for alternative solutions, and MediaTek Dimensity 9400, manufactured on TSMC's 3nm 'N3E' process similar to Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is emerging as a bright candidate.
According to data from Q1 2024, MediaTek shipped more chipsets than Qualcomm but generated less revenue. This shows that MediaTek can provide chips at a more competitive price than Qualcomm.
However, this is just a rumor and there is no official information from Samsung. Switching to MediaTek chips will be a big decision for Samsung, requiring careful consideration of performance, cost and partnerships with chip suppliers.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Samsung will not use Exynos chips on the Galaxy S25.
According to the latest leak from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Samsung may completely remove the Exynos chip on the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, instead using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip for all versions.
This is a surprising move, because Samsung has brought back Exynos on the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus in some markets. However, due to lower than expected 3nm chip yields, it seems that Samsung has decided to abandon the Exynos 2500 and bet entirely on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
Samsung Galaxy S25 may not use Exynos chip.
Samsung Galaxy S25 may not use Exynos chip.
This means that users around the world, including in Vietnam, will have a consistent experience on the Galaxy S25, with no performance difference between Exynos and Snapdragon chip versions as before.

However, this decision could also increase the price of the Galaxy S25, as Qualcomm is said to increase the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip by 25-30% due to the use of the new Oryon CPU architecture and advanced 3nm manufacturing process.
Samsung has not yet made any official comments on this information. However, if as expected, this will be a major turning point in Samsung's product strategy, marking an important change in the relationship between the company and Qualcomm.
