According to The Information, Apple and OpenAI have been secretly negotiating since mid-2023 about integrating OpenAI's artificial intelligence (AI) technology into iOS 18 . This agreement is expected to significantly upgrade Apple's virtual assistant Siri, making Siri smarter, capable of handling complex questions and can even become a chatbot on the iPhone.
However, this partnership has made Microsoft, a major OpenAI partner, concerned. Microsoft is worried that Apple's use of OpenAI's AI technology will create direct competition with its AI products, especially Microsoft Copilot.
