Case information and features for Google's upcoming Pixel 9 phone line continue to leak.
There have been a lot of leaks about Google 's upcoming Pixel phones in recent times . The company may have tried to prevent leaks of its upcoming devices by holding its annual launch event in early August, two months earlier than planned, but it doesn't seem to have worked.
According to GSMArena, recently, a promotional video for Pixel devices along with some case models has been leaked. Previously, Google Pixel devices will have silicone cases in Charcoal, Porcelain, Hazel, Rose, and Aloe colors. This last color is quite strange because the Pixel 9 Pro itself is not expected to have this color option. With the Pixel 9 Pro XL models, the cases will also have the same colors as the Pixel 9 Pro, except for the Aloe color version mentioned above.
Next, a promotional video for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL was released and posted on YouTube, but was soon removed. The video focused on describing the Pixel Pro line, which will come in two different sizes for the first time. The video also confirmed Google's commitment to continuous software updates. The company promised seven years of Pixel Feature Drops.
The video also includes a quick look at the Pixel Screenshots feature, which lets you easily search through any screenshots you’ve previously saved. Of course, Google is also touting the pro-level camera features on the two Pro models, along with Super Res Zoom Video and the new AI Add Me feature that lets you take two group photos and then merge them using AI algorithms.
This feature ensures that everyone is in the photo and the photographer isn't left out. Google's Gemini also gets a lot of screen time, as you'd expect in 2024 when AI is a big buzzword in the tech world.
Finally, we have another leaked video, focusing on the standard Pixel 9. In this video, the Add Me feature has been replaced with Magic Editor, which uses AI to “recreate” your photos, and the company also promotes this phone as having a “durable design.”
According to Phone Arena, the latest leak about the Pixel 9 series reveals some images of the prototypes of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The initial videos posted on TikTok also show major design differences between the standard Pixel 9 phone and the high-end Pixel 9 Pro XL.
While these are still pre-production prototypes, they'll likely be close to what we'll see when Google unveils the new Pixel 9 series on August 13.
One interesting thing you can see is that the back of the Pixel 9 Pro XL is larger than the standard version and has a matte finish that helps keep fingerprints away. The image also shows that the standard Pixel 9 will have a glossy back instead of the matte finish of the premium version.
While the back of the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a matte finish, the edges of the device have a glossy material. Meanwhile, the standard Pixel 9 has the opposite design with a glossy back and matte edges.
The Pixel 9 is expected to have a 6.24-inch display while the Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.34-inch display. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will have the largest display at 6.73 inches. All three phones will be powered by the Tensor G4 application processor (AP).
There are also rumors of a fourth Pixel 9 phone, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which would be a second-generation Pixel Fold 2 with a new name.
By pushing back the launch date of the next-generation Pixel Fold from June last year to August or September this year, Google may be planning to equip its foldable phone with the Tensor G4 processor compared to the Tensor G2 used on its predecessor.
