Since 2020, Apple has released four different iPhone models each year, and buyers have become accustomed to that. However, the number of models could change this year.
Going back to the previous four iPhone models, Apple would launch two basic models and two Pro models, with each pair having a large and small screen device to make the choice very simple for consumers. But this year, Apple could make buying a new iPhone much more difficult by launching five different models at once. Two of them will get the SE suffix and simpler specifications. There will be a regular iPhone 16 model and, as before, two models with the Pro suffix.

These smartphone models will differ in the number of cameras, body materials and screens. Therefore, buyers will have a lot more difficulty in choosing the best option for themselves. Let's find out the specific information.
iPhone 16 models
According to information from the Majin Bu account on X, Apple plans to release the iPhone 16 SE, iPhone 16 Plus SE, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max models.
The SE will be the cheapest in the lineup. It has a single camera, a Dynamic Island display, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The models differ only in screen size, with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. Meanwhile, the regular iPhone 16 will have a dual camera, a larger battery, and a 120Hz ProMotion display.

At the same time, according to sources, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens, incorporating a periscope lens in both versions. They also differ from the cheaper models in the case material with a titanium frame, while the cheaper models have an aluminum frame.
However, Mr. Bu also warned that while Apple is testing an iPhone prototype with a single-camera Dynamic Island, the company may not modify the smartphone line it presents in September 2024, meaning all the above details could completely change when they are officially launched.
Battery capacity
It is even more interesting to learn about the battery capacity of the iPhone 16, which has been confirmed by two different sources. First, the data on the battery increase was published by Majin Bu, and then confirmed by the MacRumors portal thanks to supply chain sources.
According to preliminary information, if Apple still keeps the same way of releasing the iPhone 16 as its predecessor, the battery capacity of the iPhone 2024 will be as follows: iPhone 16 (3561 mAh), iPhone 16 Plus (4006 mAh), iPhone 16 Pro (no data) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (4676 mAh).

Compared to last year's models, the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro Max will see a 6% and 5% increase in battery life, respectively, while the iPhone 16 Plus will see a 9% decrease. Apparently, Apple has set its sights on making the Pro Max the longest-lasting iPhone, with MacRumors reporting that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a battery life of over 30 hours. For comparison, Apple claims the iPhone 15 Pro Max can last 29 hours.
Additionally, all iPhone 16s that Apple launches this year will feature a new battery design. The company has been using L-shaped batteries since the iPhone X, and is now returning to the standard rectangular version. Apparently, Apple has found a way to fit the extra capacity it needs into a regular battery. Since the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be slightly larger than its predecessor, users can expect a slight increase of 5-6%.
A new report from the Economic Daily News says that Apple’s next-generation processors – the M4 and A18 – will “significantly increase the number of integrated AI computing cores.” At the same time, iOS 18 will integrate a number of new AI features, and Apple will also upgrade the iPhone 16’s hardware to accommodate the software.

This shows that "Apple House" will increase investment in TSMC's operations. This year, Apple's 3nm processor orders are expected to increase by 50% compared to the same period last year.
Apple has been manufacturing chips using the 3nm process. Chips manufactured on this process include: M3, M3 Pro, M3 Max and A17 Pro (found on the iPhone 15 Pro pair). The M3 Ultra chip is expected to launch in late 2024.
iPhone 16 and artificial intelligence
The highlight of the report is the Neural Engine on the A18 chip - which will be featured on the iPhone 16 series. The Neural Engine has had a 16-core design since the iPhone 12 generation in 2020. However, the Neural Engine has gotten significantly faster over the years even while the core count has remained the same.
