Samsung is expected to launch the One UI 7 update based on Android 15 at the SDC 2024 conference on October 3, 2024.
If the information is correct, the One UI 7 launch will follow the same schedule as last year. Last year, the One UI 6 update was released after it was revealed at SDC 2023 on October 5. It is possible that Samsung will roll out One UI 7 in a similar manner.
One UI 7 is built on Android 15.
The exact release date is still unknown, but a new report from leakster IceUniverse on X suggests that the upcoming One UI 7 could bring a major redesign and is also said to be the biggest change in One UI history. The source added that One UI 7 is expected to bring major changes to the icons as they are being redrawn.
IceUniverse’s “redrawn icons” claim suggests that Samsung could adopt a completely new icon design for One UI 7. Furthermore, the sources also speculate that Samsung could introduce native app icon customization options. Currently, Galaxy users have to use the Good Lock app to tweak their icons.
App icons on One UI 7 will be redesigned.
One UI 7 will be based on the Android 15 operating system that Google will officially introduce in August 2024 along with the launch of the Pixel 9 series. Besides, the One UI 7 update is also expected to bring a vertically scrolling app drawer along with many new Galaxy AI capabilities updated by Samsung.
Finally, the report adds that Samsung is currently testing the One UI 7 update on multiple Galaxy phones. Notably, the Galaxy S24 Plus, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Galaxy S22 series have been spotted on Geekbench running the One UI 7 update based on Android 15.
The One UI 7 test version was run on the Galaxy S24 Plus and showed some interesting results.
One UI 7 is the latest Android 15 -based operating system update from Google and developed by Samsung for its Galaxy smartphone line. After testing One UI 7 on the highest-end Galaxy S24 Ultra in May, Samsung continues to expand its testing to the next Galaxy S24 member.

As noted by GSMArena, the Geekbench benchmark of the Galaxy S24 Plus with One UI 7 has appeared with a single-core score of 2114 and a multi-core score of 6616. This result is slightly different from the current score of the Galaxy S24 Plus which is 2076 with single-core and 6621 with multi-core. However, this is a test result because Samsung will further improve the algorithms to optimize performance when One UI 7 is officially released.
Previously, X-User @ibinguniverse also reported that Samsung will adjust its One UI update strategy this year as it prepares to launch One UI 6.1.1 for the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 at the Unpacked event on July 10. The One UI 6.1 .1 update is expected to be made available to the Galaxy S24 models on August 3, and One UI 7 is expected to roll out later, with the public beta possibly rolling out in August or September.
