Users don't need to buy the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 to get some of the new AI features coming from Galaxy AI.
Samsung just launched the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold 6 with some new AI features. However, their prices are quite expensive for many people. Therefore, the fact that a series of new features are also available on some older Galaxy models is really good news for many people.
The Galaxy S24 series will seemingly feature most of the new features on Galaxy AI.
This information was announced by Samsung CEO Annika Bizon on stage at the company's Unpacked event on the evening of July 10 when she said: "We also plan to deploy the new Galaxy AI features announced today to a number of Galaxy devices later this year."
Samsung didn't provide details on supported devices or specific features that will be available on previous devices, but that wouldn't be surprising considering older flagship smartphones received some of the Galaxy S24's Galaxy AI features earlier this year.
It's likely that most of the new Galaxy AI features Samsung announced will be available on the Galaxy S24 series, especially since the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip as the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus also have this chip in the US market.

Notably, Samsung’s own website lists Drawing Assist as supported on the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Flip5, and Z Fold5. When asked about the listing, a Samsung representative confirmed it, although the company provided a small disclaimer reiterating that the Galaxy AI features will be free until the end of 2025 — not exactly news.
However, the disclaimer also notes that “different terms may apply to AI features provided by third parties.” It’s unclear what Samsung’s definition of third-party AI features is, but it’s reasonable to assume that Google’s Gemini assistant will be made available to users for free via the Galaxy AI in the future.
