Two cutting-edge technologies will come to the iPhone 16 Pro series

There is more and more interesting information related to the iPhone 16 Pro duo that Apple is expected to launch this fall.

A few days ago, Apple was rumored to be making iPhone batteries easier to replace in order to comply with EU regulations. Now, leakster Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple will use a stainless steel battery case to make it easier to remove the battery. The added benefit of this is a reported 5-10% increase in battery cell density while still meeting safety requirements. This should result in better battery life.

Kuo points out that Sunway is a supplier of stainless steel battery cases and is a big beneficiary of Apple's new business. According to Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is likely to be the first iPhone to benefit from the new battery case.

The EU is reported requiring users to be able to replace their smartphone batteries themselves by 2025, meaning all phones will eventually adopt a new, easier way to replace batteries.

Additionally, a report says that Apple and Google are said to be using Samsung's latest M14 OLED panels, which are brighter and more durable than the current best panel on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. A report from Korean news site ETNews details Samsung Display's plans to supply M14 OLED panels for the iPhone 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, as well as the Pixel 9 series expected to launch in the second half of this year.

Both the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are said to use the new M14 OLED panel from Samsung.

The M14 designation suggests the use of higher-performance materials in the OLED panels, which could be up to 14 in total. The M14 OLED panels are set to be brighter and have a longer lifespan than Samsung Display's current OLED products.

Citing internal sources, GSMArena said that the iPhone 16 Pro (6.3 inches) and 16 Pro Max (6.9 inches) will have new screens, while the regular models (6.1-inch iPhone 16 and 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Plus) will have the same M12 panel that the current iPhone 15 generation uses.

The sources added that the entire Pixel 9 lineup will use the newer M14 panel. This includes the Pixel 9, the smaller Pixel 9 Pro, and the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL.
