50,000 workers urgently recruited to produce iPhone 16

iPhone 16 Series production lines are currently running at full capacity as Foxconn urgently recruits 50,000 more workers.

Production of the iPhone 16 series has reached a peak, with Foxconn adding 50,000 workers at its largest assembly plant.

Last month, the company raised both base wages and bonuses to recruit enough new workers to meet expected demand this year.

Foxconn is Apple's main iPhone assembler.

A factory in Zhengzhou, China, is responsible for about 80% of global iPhone production.

The city is also known as iPhone City.

Of course, iPhone production is seasonal, with peak production typically starting in August and lasting through December to meet the demand for early orders and year-end holiday shopping.

Foxconn will ramp up hiring in July every year to recruit these seasonal workers.

According to BusinessKorea, at the end of July this year, Foxconn posted recruitment information on major job websites and social networking service (SNS) platforms, offering hourly wages of up to 25 yuan (about 87.5 thousand VND).

In addition, the Zhengzhou factory offered a bonus of up to 7,500 yuan (about 26.2 million VND), a significant increase from the 6,000 yuan (about 21 million VND) bonus offered a month earlier.

Apple is expecting high demand for this year's iPhone 16 lineup, which will come with Apple's AI features.

Currently, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have access to the AI features, so many iPhone users will upgrade this year.

The second factor is signs of recovery in China, where price cuts have helped iPhone sales pick up significantly after a previous slump.

Last month, Bloomberg reported that Apple had asked suppliers to increase production by 10% this year, aiming to produce 90 million iPhones in 2024.
