OnePlus 13 will outperform Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15

A new batch of OnePlus 13 leaks suggests they have significant advantages over the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15.

The latest news comes from Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo, suggesting that the OnePlus 13 will feature IP69 water and dust resistance. This is a step up from the IP68 rating found on most flagship smartphones and a big step up from the IP65 rating on the OnePlus 12, which doesn't offer a high rating for being able to withstand being submerged in water. This allows the OnePlus phone to beat the likes of the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 in this regard.

The OnePlus 13's IP69 water resistance rating is pretty impressive.

The IP69 rating means the OnePlus 13 will be one of the most durable smartphones on the market and is certified to withstand high-pressure water jets and high temperatures.

DCS also revealed various specifications of the OnePlus 13, including a flat screen and some new specifications. Accordingly, the product will use the extremely powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, 2K curved screen, new super large silicon battery supporting 100W fast charging and wireless charging. The back of the phone comes with 3 cameras 50 MP + 50 MP + 50 MP with 3x Hasselblad periscope lens, single-point ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, super large X-axis motor, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.

The notable thing here is the mention of wireless charging. Previous rumors from DCS said that like the OnePlus 11, the OnePlus 13 would not come with wireless charging. That was obviously unusual because the OnePlus 12 itself supports wireless charging, so the new news suggests that DCS has updated the feature.

For all its efforts, OnePlus is making the OnePlus 13 stand out from the current crop of Samsung and Apple’s flagship Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 models. Of course, the company may have to add more compelling features if it wants to be ready to take on its upcoming rivals, the Galaxy S25 (launched in early 2025) and the iPhone 16 (launched in September 2024). The OnePlus 13 is expected to launch later this year, so there are still a few months for the manufacturer to tweak the specs.

Renders and rumored specs of the OnePlus 13 suggest it's a respectable upgrade.

Although the OnePlus 12 was only released in December, information about its successor - OnePlus 13 - has been densely appearing since March. Recently, social network Weibo posted a render image of the high-end phone.

The image of the back of the phone shows that the device will have a rectangular camera cluster in the style of OnePlus 10 Pro.

Meanwhile, on social network X, account Yogesh Brar predicted that the phone will have a circular rear camera cluster in the middle of the phone, similar to the camera on the Oppo Find X7.

An earlier rumor suggested that the high-end phone would feature a new main camera and telephoto camera.

Also according to Yogesh Brar, OnePlus 13 will have a "four-sided curved screen", bringing exquisite beauty on all four sides, helping to improve aesthetics and comfortable operation.

Finally, the source claims, the high-end smartphone will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. Qualcomm's new chip will feature a new core arrangement and use custom-designed cores. These improvements are expected to result in significant performance gains.

According to previous rumors, the OnePlus 13 will retain the 5,400mAh battery and 100W charging speed of its predecessor. It will have a 6.8-inch display, the same as the OnePlus 12. The phone will also have a more reliable and secure in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Last year, OnePlus 12 was released in December. Therefore, OnePlus 13 is expected to launch later this year. When launched, the device will be a "destroyer" in the Android smartphone segment.
