Redmi K80 could be the phone with the highest capacity battery ever.
According to Gizmochina, Xiaomi is expected to announce the Xiaomi 15 series smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip in October this year. In November, the company's sub-brand Redmi is expected to launch the Redmi K80 series in the Chinese market. Like the Redmi K70 series, the first models in the K80 family may include the Redmi K80e, Redmi K80, and Redmi K80 Pro.
A new Weibo post by user @Digital Chat Station has revealed that the K80 series is currently being tested with high-capacity silicon batteries.
The information shows that the batteries being tested for the Redmi K80 series have capacities of 5,960 mAh and 6,060 mAh, with typical capacities reaching 6,100 mAh and 6,200 mAh. Under laboratory conditions, the maximum capacity can reach 6,500 mAh.
This means that the Redmi K80 series can boast a new single-core battery with a capacity of up to 6,500 mAh, making it the phone with the highest capacity battery in its price range, unmatched by any other device. For comparison, the Redmi K70 and K70 Pro have 5,000 mAh batteries, while the recently launched K70 Ultra has a 5,500 mAh battery.
While recent reports have revealed a lot about the Redmi K80 Pro, details about the K80 are still scarce. According to recent reports, the Pro variant will feature a 120Hz 2K OLED display with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. The rear camera setup will include a 50-megapixel primary camera, an ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel 3x telephoto camera. The K80 series may support up to 120W fast charging.
Reports suggest that the Redmi K80 could feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and be rebranded as the Poco F7 Pro in 2025. On the other hand, the Redmi K80 Pro could feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. The device is likely to be limited to the Chinese market only.
Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 Active has been confirmed for launch date along with many notable new upgrades.
Xiaomi is gearing up to announce its new smartwatch — the Redmi Watch 5 Active — in India next week. The wearable is scheduled to launch on August 27, and Redmi India has shared a series of teasers of the device, confirming most of the key specifications of the product, according to GSM Arena.
The Watch 5 Active will have a 2-inch rectangular touchscreen, likely an OLED display. The device will support Bluetooth calls from a paired phone, and Xiaomi is also promoting a Clear+ calling feature that should help reduce noise.
The Redmi Watch 5 Active has a battery life of up to 18 days on a single charge, which is quite impressive although it may involve activating the battery saver option. The watch will run Xiomi HyperOS with Alexa voice assistant integration and will offer tracking for over 140 sports modes.
