Fitbit, a subsidiary of Google, has just launched a new feature update for the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch, designed to help children stay active, develop financial independence and stay in touch with their families.
This update is aimed at helping children learn to be more familiar with and responsible with spending and shopping issues, according to Phone Arena.
One of the most exciting updates is the ability to tap and pay with credit cards from linked banks.
This new feature allows kids to make purchases on their own within a certain limit, helping them develop financial independence and responsibility.

Parents can link credit cards and set reasonable spending limits.
This gives parents peace of mind when teaching kids about money management, and kids can use their watches to pay for things like snacks, school supplies, and more.

Fitbit has also partnered with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, an organization focused on children’s health.
The partnership has created new health content for the Ace LTE, including fun challenges and missions that encourage kids to be active and make healthy choices.
Fitbit is also developing a new feature that will allow kids to add their siblings as contacts in the Fitbit Ace app, making it easier for siblings to stay in touch and make plans, even if they don't have their own cell phones.
For parents, there’s also a new option in the school time settings that lets them set a lunch break.
This means kids can use the watch during recess, but it will automatically switch to a less distracting mode during school hours.

The feature, called “School Time,” was introduced earlier this week and will soon be expanded to select Android phones, tablets, and Samsung Galaxy Watches to further promote effective learning environments.
This is a timely update considering that in the United States, the use of smartphones in the classroom is soon to be debated in Congress, with restrictive legislation already proposed.
Prior to this update, the Fitbit Ace LTE offered features that gave parents peace of mind with their kids, such as the ability to track their child's location, set reminders and send messages, and a built-in SOS feature that kids could use in case of emergency.
