Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has a chance to beat iPhone 16 Pro Max

Not only can it beat the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can completely surpass the highest-end iPhone model of 2025.

If Samsung decides to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip instead of the homegrown Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy S25 Ultra version can completely beat the iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of processing speed.

The most expensive iPhone of 2025 is expected to be powered by the A18 chip, which is expected to be only slightly faster than the A17 Pro found in the current iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, new benchmarks show that the A17 Pro has been beaten by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in multi-core benchmarks.

Hidden under the Manufacturer Model codename, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has appeared on Geekbench and been benchmarked for the first time. With a single-core score of 2,884, it's on par with the A17 Pro found in the iPhone 15 Pro models. However, in the multi-core test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 scored 8,840, making it the fastest chip Qualcomm has ever made, even faster than Apple's acclaimed A-series chips.

The reason is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to come with a new custom core architecture consisting of custom Oryon CPU cores combined with a new generation of Adreno GPUs, which should result in a significant speed boost.

The Adreno 750 GPU in the Galaxy S24 Ultra's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is already faster than the integrated graphics of Apple's A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, Apple is expected to boost the GPU speed in the new A18 series by up to 50%, so it remains to be seen which processor will be better in terms of graphics.

Qualcomm has outsourced its latest 3nm N3P process to TSMC to manufacture the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and the inherent qualities of this manufacturing process are reflected in the extremely high 4GHz+ frequencies described for the performance cores in the Geekbench score details here. Despite such high clock speeds, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to be very power-efficient, so we'll have to wait until Qualcomm's launch event around October to see what the new chip has to offer.

At the end of June, the Majin Bu account on social network X released images of the screen protectors of the iPhone 16 series, revealing their screen sizes. Accordingly, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have screen sizes of 6.1 inches; 6.3 inches; 6.7 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively.

On the other hand, many rumors suggest that Apple has planned to increase the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro duo. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will still have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens. However, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 6.3-inch screen and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen - 0.2 inches larger than its predecessor.

Previously, in May 2023, Ross Young - co-founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) predicted that the 6.9-inch screen would be on the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Ross Young's previous display roadmap predicted that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus would have similar screen sizes, at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. Next year, the new ultra-thin "Slim" iPhone will cost more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max and replace the iPhone 17 Plus.

This information makes many iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max owners feel regretful. Along with that, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus owners will not have the opportunity to experience Apple I
