When the PL mount is removed, the camera can use E-mount lenses and supports Hybrid AF technology and high-speed AF subject recognition.
Sony has just launched the Burano 8K cinema camera, part of the company's top-of-the-line CineAlta digital camera line. Using a sensor that inherits the color technology of Venice 2, the Burano camera is designed to combine image quality and mobility, and is also the world's first digital camera to use the PL mount with built-in anti-shake technology.
In addition, the compact body also integrates a thinner electronic variable ND filter structure for the first time, along with an optical image stabilization system. When the PL mount is removed, the camera can use E-mount lenses and supports Hybrid AF technology (hybrid autofocus) and high-speed AF subject recognition.
The Burano incorporates an 8.6K full-frame sensor with most of the same specs as the VENICE 2, allowing for cross-production use. The sensor has a dual base ISO of 800 and 3,200 with a dynamic range of up to 16 stops. The camera can shoot at 30fps (8K) or 60fps (6K) or 120fps (4K).
The Burano features a compact, highly portable body that is approximately 32mm shorter and 1.4kg lighter than the Venice 2. The camera and accessory packaging is made primarily of plant-based cellulose fibres rather than plastic. Furthermore, the camera’s padding is made of moulded pulp rather than thermoplastic.
In addition to Burano, Sony said it will continue to distribute Venice 2. Not only inheriting the highly appreciated features of the Venice camera such as color, dual base ISO, 8-stop ND filter, the Venice 2 camera also allows the choice between 6K or 8.6K full-frame sensors depending on the needs of the filmmaker.
Canon ’s XA series of professional camcorders are designed for on-location filming such as news broadcasting, reporting, documentaries and events. The newly released XA75 and XA70 models inherit the same level of performance as their predecessors, while adding support for the UVC (USB Video Class) protocol for sending video via a USB Type-C connection.
New Canon camcorders.
The XA75 and XA70 are equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV 6 image processor. With a 4K-compatible 15x optical zoom lens and a zoom range from approximately 25.5mm at wide angle to approximately 382.5mm at telephoto, both models support high-quality 4K/30p video recording across the entire zoom range. Additionally, thanks to Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, the XA75/XA70 can automatically acquire and track subjects while shooting.
Meanwhile, the XA65 and XA60 are equipped with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor and a DIGIC DV 6 image processor, along with a 4K-compatible 20x optical zoom lens, all in a compact body measuring approximately 109mm (W) x 84mm (H) x 182mm (D) and weighing approximately 750g. The camcorders support 4K/30p video recording across the entire zoom range - from approximately 29.3mm at wide angle to approximately 601mm at telephoto. Additionally, data from the 4K sensor can also be used for HD oversampling processing to record high-resolution Full HD/60p video.
Additionally, the camcorders feature a 3.5-inch, 2.76-million-dot LCD touchscreen, as well as a 0.36-inch, 1.77-million-dot tilting EVF (electronic viewfinder) for improved visibility when shooting outdoors. Furthermore, the camcorders feature a digital zoom function for a wider zoom range and an OSD (on-screen display) “text overlay” function.
On this occasion, Canon also launched the CN8 x 15 IAS S/E1 (EF mount) and CN8 x 15 IAS S/P1 (PL mount). These are the latest models in the CINE-SERVO line of EF Cinema lenses.
Supporting 8K cameras with large-format sensors, the new EF Cinema lenses feature a 15mm focal length at the wide angle, 8x optical zoom and a built-in 1.5x extender. These versatile new lenses can be used in situations such as TV and commercial shooting, live studio shooting, sports broadcasting, and more.
The CN8 x 15 IAS S/E1 and CN8 x 15 IAS S/P1 can be mounted on cameras with large format sensors (Super 35mm equivalent), providing a focal length of 15 - 120mm thanks to their high optical zoom capability. Compared to their predecessors, these lenses offer higher performance in a more compact design, improving mobility and ease of shoulder-mounting.
