Xiaomi is developing a phone with absolutely no buttons, launching next year

Xiaomi is developing a smartphone with no physical buttons, expected to launch in 2025.

According to exclusive sources from Smartprix, Xiaomi is developing a completely buttonless phone, codenamed “Zhuque”.

This smartphone is different from current smartphones because the device will not have physical buttons.

With this product, Xiaomi promises to bring the true full-screen smartphone experience that we have been hearing about for a long time.

Since the project is said to be in its early stages, it is still unclear how the device will be controlled.

Zhuque could use a combination of gesture controls, pressure-sensitive edges, or even voice commands, and if Xiaomi pulls it off, it could be a huge step forward in smartphone design.

Another standout feature on the Zhuque is the under-display selfie camera, a technology that has long been a dream for smartphone designers.

We've seen attempts at this from Samsung and ZTE, but Xiaomi's implementation on a full-screen phone could make it look even better.

Inside, the Zhuque is expected to be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 processor, codenamed SM8775.

This processor will also power the Xiaomi 15S Pro, which is expected to launch in Q2 2025.

We don't know much about the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 yet, but it's likely to be based on the new Qryon cores, similar to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.

While there are no details on the display, battery, or camera, the leak gives us a glimpse into Xiaomi’s plans to shake up the smartphone market.

Things could change as the project is still in its early stages, but as of now, we could see the first images of the phone in the first half of 2025.

Xiaomi is investing heavily in its own research and development (R&D) processes to create its own new products.

The company is working on a buttonless smartphone, a custom-developed mobile processor, and even a triple-screen foldable phone that could be released early next year.

Before Xiaomi, Meizu tried to do the same with the Meizu Zero – a smartphone with a “holeless” design.

Technically, the phone has no holes, no physical cutouts, not even a speaker or USB.

Instead, it has a capacitive touch power button and volume buttons.

The speaker was replaced by a screen that vibrates to produce sound, and the USB charging port was replaced by 18W wireless charging.

Despite its innovative ideas, the Meizu Zero was not popular with many people.
