Apple has yet to explain why the iPad mini 7 is missing a major iPadOS feature.
The newly launched iPad mini 7 has impressed with the A17 Pro chip, 8GB RAM and Apple Intelligence support,
but it lacks a notable feature of iPadOS, specifically the Stage Manager multitasking feature is not present on Apple's new tablet product.

Stage Manager allows users to arrange and switch between open applications flexibly like on a computer.
This feature requires a fairly high configuration, initially only supporting the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air.
However, Apple later extended Stage Manager to some older iPad models, even those with as little as 6GB of RAM, which makes it confusing that the iPad mini 7,
with its 8GB of RAM and powerful A17 Pro chip, doesn’t support Stage Manager.
Many people think that the reason may lie in the iPad mini 7's too small 8.3-inch screen size, making the multitasking experience with Stage Manager not really comfortable.
However, 9to5Mac expert Filipe Espósito theorizes that Apple could enable Stage Manager for the iPad mini 7 when the device is connected to an external display,
which would turn the iPad mini 7 into a powerful mobile computer.

Currently, Apple has not officially responded to the iPad mini 7 not supporting Stage Manager. Users hope that Apple will soon add this feature in a future software update.
Design and display
The next-generation iPad mini is likely to retain the same 8.3-inch screen size and overall form factor as the sixth-generation model.
However, there is a rumor that Apple is considering tweaking the display assembly to address “jelly scrolling.”
The change is intended to reduce lag when scrolling vertically, an issue that has plagued users with the current model.
A18 Chip
When launching the iPad mini 6, Apple equipped the A15 Bionic chip, a technology only available on the iPhone 13. If this trend continues, the iPad mini 7 will be equipped with the A18 chip, which doubles performance, improves memory bandwidth, and enhances energy efficiency.
Apple Intelligence
Currently, there are only two iPad models that do not have Apple Intelligence built in, including the iPad mini and the standard iPad. Since the iPad mini is similar to the iPad Air but has a smaller screen, it is likely that Apple will equip this device with 8GB of RAM, which will help it run Apple Intelligence features smoothly.
