The phone will be available in three colors: Magenta, Bleen (a mix of blue and green), and Glossy Black. Leaked images show a two-tone design, with a textured power button on the right and ports on the left, giving the phone its signature style.
In terms of specifications, the HMD Icon Flip 1 will support 4G LTE and use the Unisoc T127 chip, similar to the processor of the HMD 105 4G announced earlier this year. The phone will come with 48MB of RAM and 128MB of storage, enough for basic usage. The device runs on the S30+ operating system, which also supports web applications, suitable for users looking for a no-frills phone.
The HMD Icon Flip 1 features a 2.8-inch main display and a 1.7-inch secondary display. It has a 2MP front camera but no rear camera, suggesting that it is a feature phone. Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.0, an audio jack, a USB-C port, and a 1,500mAh removable battery.
The HMD Icon Flip 1 will cost around the same as the HMD Barbie.
While the leak doesn’t provide pricing information, it’s likely to be similar to the HMD Barbie, which retails for around $130, suggesting the HMD Icon Flip 1 could be in a similar price range. Design-wise, the phone also shares similarities with the Nokia 2660 Flip, but with a bolder color palette.
HMD’s latest development fits into its partnership with Xplora to promote non-addictive technology, and the phone promises to appeal to those looking for a digital detox or a secondary phone with essential features.
