Extremely strange design of iPhone 17 Pro revealed

While the debate over whether Apple will keep the stove-shaped camera design or switch to a horizontal flip like the Pixel, a new rumor has emerged regarding the front design of the iPhone 17 Pro.

In 2022, the iPhone 14 Pro ditched the notch in favor of a Dynamic Island, and the design hasn't changed much in the past two years. But according to a report from Chinese site My Drivers, that's going to change this year.

The rear camera layout of the iPhone 17 series is still a question mark.

The report reiterates analyst Jeff Pu’s claim in May that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature a smaller Dynamic Island. While Apple is not expected to place the Face ID system under the display to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, it will use “metalens” technology for the Face ID system, allowing for a narrower cutout.

Metalens, also known as metasurface lenses, are optical lenses that use nanostructured materials, rather than relying on surface curvature to direct light. This allows companies to reduce the size and weight of optical components, freeing up space for design.

The report also offers a concept image of a smaller Dynamic Island and says the iPhone 17 Pro will have thinner bezels. While full-screen iPhones aren't here yet, the iPhone 17 Pro would be a major step toward that.

Analyst Jeff Pu said that only the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be equipped with a screen with a reduced Dynamic Island, while the remaining 3 models can keep the same Dynamic Island size as the current models.

Meanwhile, conflicting leaks about whether Apple will adopt horizontally stacked cameras for its new phones are still circulating. Either way, it seems like Apple is considering a design refresh, and with any luck, at least one of these leaks could come true.
