Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to save the declining foldable smartphone market.
The latest report from DSCC highlights the difficulties facing the foldable smartphone
market. It has just experienced its first downturn, and things are expected to get
worse. However, the report does point to one reason for optimism: Apple’s foldable iPhone is coming.

Foldable phones are still in their early stages of development, but the
y have already reached their peak. In Q3 2024, the market saw a decline in display purchases for the first time.
Apparently, this is no small matter as display analysts at DSCC predict 2025 to be a year of decline for this segment.

All of this is very bad news for companies looking to make foldable phones.
Apple and the foldable iPhone will turn the tide
Reports predict that Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone will be a game changer.
The foldable iPhone is expected to launch in late 2026, and as such, DSCC p
redicts this will be a record year for foldable phones overall as Apple “revives” the
category. Growth is expected to reach over 30%, with growth of over 20% expected for 2027 and 2028.
With its dominant position in the premium smartphone market, this iPhone could create significant growth for the foldable smartphone market.

Any improvements in design, functionality, casing, durability, etc. on foldable iPhones could spur new demand for the foldable smartphone market.
A foldable iPhone would certainly increase the demand for foldable phones. But how much of a difference could this “super product” really make to the fortunes of its competitors? Only time will tell.
