The iPhone 17 Air could be Apple's thinnest iPhone yet, with self-designed components that help reduce the thickness of the body.
In 2025, Apple is expected to introduce a new iPhone version called the iPhone 1
7 Air, along with the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models.
ccording to Bloomberg expert Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air will be about 2mm thinner than the current iPhone 16 Pro, with an estimated th
ckness of only 6.25mm, making it the thinnest iPhone model ever. For compa
rison, the iPhone 6 - the previous thinnest iPhone model - was 6.9mm thick.

The increase in thickness of iPhone models from the iPhone X onwards is mainly t
o provide space for the battery, camera and components such as Face ID. In particular, the iPhone 1
7 Air will be equipped with a 5G modem chip designed by Apple, which is smaller than Qualcomm's 5G modem chip.
Gurman said Apple is focusing on integrating this chip with other components to save space inside the device, thereby allowing the iPh
one 17 Air to be thinner without affecting battery life, camera quality or display.
Previous reports have also suggested that the iPhone 17 Air will be between 5mm and 6mm thick, with current information sugges
ting that around 6mm is possible. This iPhone model is expected to have a screen size of around 6.6 inches and a single rear camera.
In addition to the iPhone 17 Air, Apple will also equip the iPhone SE and a low-cost iPad model with a custom modem chip in 2025. Improv
ing the modem chip design not only saves space but also opens up possibilities for new designs, including foldable iPhones.
Gurman said Apple is continuing to research this technology and aims to phase out Qualcomm's modems over the next three years, while developing a system on a chip that integrates multiple components such as the processor, modem and Wi-Fi chip, to optimize space and enhance integration between components.
