The iPhone 17 series will be "transformed" with a high refresh rate screen, making fans "eagerly" wait.
After years of lagging behind its Android rivals, Apple will finally bring a high-refresh-rate ProMotion display to the standard iPhone 17 series.
According to a leak from reputable leaker Digital Chat Station, both the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus expected to launch in 2025 will be upgraded to ProMotion displays, supporting adaptive refresh rates from 1-120Hz. This is good news for iPhone lovers, because up to now, Apple has only equipped this technology on the expensive iPhone Pro and Pro Max models.
High refresh rate screens will be featured on the entire iPhone 17 series.
The "popularization" of ProMotion on the iPhone 17 will help bring a smoother swiping experience, sharper display images, especially when playing games and watching videos. Previously, Apple received a lot of criticism for being "stingy" when still using a 60Hz screen on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, while today's cheap Android smartphones all have a refresh rate of at least 90Hz.
It’s unclear what maximum refresh rate Apple will use for the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus. It’s likely that the company will cap it at 90Hz to differentiate it from the Pro models. However, whether it’s 90Hz or 120Hz, it’s still a worthwhile upgrade that will make the iPhone 17 more competitive in the high-end smartphone segment.
In addition to upgrading the screen, Apple is also said to be developing a new iPhone model called the iPhone 17 Air. This device has an ultra-thin design, only about 5-6mm, promising to be a formidable competitor to the Galaxy S25.
However, all the current information is just rumors. We will have to wait until Apple's official launch event in September 2025 to know exactly what the iPhone 17 will bring.
