According to analysts, in the coming years, the design of iPhone and MacBook will change significantly.
According to Aaron Tilley and Yang Jie of The Wall Street Journal, Apple is planning a series of "major design changes" and "format shifts" for the iPhone over the next few years.

The report says the "iPhone 17 Air" will have an "ultra-thin" design — thinner than current iPhone models. The report doesn't mention specific measurements, but previous rumors have suggested the device could be as thin as 5 to 6.25mm. The iPhone 16 series was previously 7.8mm thick. The thinnest iPhone ever was the iPhone 6, which was 6.9mm thick, and the iPhone 17 Air will break that record.
As previously rumored, the report says the iPhone 17 Air will “give up” some of the features found in the iPhone Pro models. For example, the iPhone will only have a “simplified” camera system. Accordingly, the device will be priced lower than the iPhone Pro line, starting at $999 in the US.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 Air in September 2025.
According to the report, "Apple" is also planning to release two foldable devices later. The report said that one of the two devices will be the largest MacBook ever with a 19-inch screen, the other device will be a foldable iPhone, which can open up to a screen larger than the screen on the iPhone 16 Pro Max - 6.9 inches.

The report said that Apple is aiming to release a foldable iPhone in 2026 or 2027, with a foldable MacBook coming later. Both products have been in development multiple times in recent years.
Apple has faced major challenges in developing a foldable iPhone, including the device's hinge and the protective layer that covers the display. The company reportedly considered a foldable iPhone with an external display, but decided to go with an internal display.
