Apple fans will have to wait a little longer to see the all-glass iPhone launch.
Like many other smartphones, the iPhone is offering users a large screen with a small border around it. However, this design will change on the iPhone 18 series.
According to TheElec, Samsung Display and LG Display are researching bezel-less OLED screens.
Both companies are key members of Apple's display supply chain and this work is being done at the request of the "Apple".

On Tuesday, multiple sources said that Apple is in talks about screen technology.
Notably, the plan is set for 2026, corresponding to the iPhone 18 series. However, the actual progress may be slower.
A source explained:
"If Apple wants to release a bezel-less OLED iPhone in 2026, it would have to complete th
e technical work with domestic display manufacturers, but in fact, the company is still in the discussion process."
New screen design and technology
Many reports say that Apple wants to use a bezel-less screen to maintain the current flat edge. Along with that, the screen will be designed

with curved edges, similar to the Apple Watch screen.
To do this, Samsung Display and LG Display had to create thin film encapsulation (TFE) processes to protect the OLED display from moisture and oxygen. They also needed optically
clear adhesive (OCA) technology to bond the display with a transparent double-sided adhesive film that could work with the curved components of the display while maintaining space for other components.

The development of OCA technology was clearly hampered by the presence of distortion issues when viewed from the side. It was clear that Apple did not want the magnifying glass effect that some Samsung phones with curved edges experience when used. In addition, the phone had durability issues as the edge-to-edge design was susceptible to external impacts.
Other design changes could also impact the development of the new display, including an under-display camera system. The under-display Face ID system was previously rumored to be coming to the iPhone 18.
There are also rumors that Samsung will use blue luminescent material in OLED screens to reduce power consumption. This change could significantly extend the battery life of the iPhone.
