2026 will see a dramatic change in small-sized smartphones, most clearly demonstrated by Samsung's Galaxy S series.
Small phones are becoming increasingly rare, and this trend is expected to co

re true, both companies will change their smartphone lineups in the coming years - moving to larger screens.

According to the X social network account Ice Universe, Samsung could ditch the
standard Galaxy S version in 2026. That means users will have to say goodbye to t
he smallest phone in Samsung's Galaxy S trio, currently the Galaxy S24 with a 6.2-inch screen.
At the same time, Apple will launch a new version of the iPhone SE, its smaller,
cheaper iPhone. But according to MacRumors and Bloomberg, the device is expect
ed to increase the screen size from 4.7 inches to 6.1 inches, more like a standard iPhone.

These reports are just the latest sign that smaller smartphones may be on the way out, especially after Apple drops the iPhone Mi

Phones are getting bigger
Tech giants have managed to pack even larger screens into their smartphones by 2024. In fact, the trend toward larger screens isn't new; it's been happening gradually over the past decade. In 2014, an Accenture survey found that nearly half of consumers planning to buy a new phone were interested in a "phablet" phone with a larger screen.
Ten years later, there is mounting evidence that smartphone buyers prefer phones with larger screens. Cellphone trade-in site SellCell conducted a survey ahead of the iPhone 16 launch and found that 54.9% of respondents wanted a larger iPhone.
