Foldable iPhone size revealed for the first time

According to the latest rumors, this is the expected screen size of Apple's 2026 foldable iPhone.

After years of speculation, Apple's first foldable iPhone is getting closer and closer to its actual commercial release.

According to the latest rumors, the foldable iPhone is expected to compete with phones like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold

6 and Google's Pixel 9 Pro Fold. And speaking of screen size, a new report has come up with an unusual picture of the "iPhone Fold."

Foldable iPhone has unusual screen size

According to predictions, the foldable iPhone will have a main screen size of 7.6 to 7.9 inches - on par with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 7.6-inch main display and a 6.3-inch secondary display, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a huge 8-inch foldable display and a 6.3-inch outer display.

Apple is expected to use a secondary display with a diagonal of 5.3 to 5.5 inches - quite small by today's standards.

According to rumors, the first-generation iPhone Fold will support a wider aspect ratio "than Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series".

With the help of advanced LTPO, CoE, and UTG technologies, Apple can compensate for the disadvantage of screen space to provide a better overall user experience.

Samsung will be responsible for manufacturing the iPhone Fold's display, and it's "80% confirmed" to launch in 2026.

In the long term, BOE could take on a portion if the foldable iPhone can "take off."

What about Apple's first foldable iPad?

According to an account on the social network X and a financial services company called Meritz Securities, a giant foldable iPad with a nearly 19-inch screen is also in the Apple's plans. However, this product will not be launched anytime soon.

The reason is largely because the latest high-end iPad Pro with an OLED display has not met initial sales expectations, so the tech giant is worried that a foldable iPad with an 18.8-inch screen and a luxury price tag might not be well received by consumers around the world.

The 18.8-inch foldable display is likely to be supplied by LG instead of Samsung or BOE. At the same time, the initial production of the foldable iPad will certainly be "limited", much lower than the first-generation foldable iPhone. Apple is expected to launch 15-20 million foldable iPhones globally in the first year.
