On Wednesday, January 22, Samsung will unveil its latest and greatest products. The event will include new
versions of its flagship Galaxy S phones, which are owned by about one in five smartphone owners worldwide.
The event could also see the debut of AR glasses and a new Galaxy ring, with the company's Galaxy
S phones in particular drawing more attention with their AI features.

Advantages for Galaxy AI
AI on phones isn't new. Samsung launched the Galaxy AI last January; both Google and Apple have their own versions of AI-focused phones.
Last year, Galaxy AI introduced a host of new features to the Galaxy lineup, including AI photo assistance, live translation, Circle to Search, and more.

It's still unclear whether people will fully embrace the AI features, but one thing's for sure: Samsung will detail the Galaxy AI in some way.
Currently, the AI features and AI apps on Apple, Samsung, and Google phones are pretty much the same: Creating images, editing photos, writing text, and interpreting emails.
While AI on phones is still new, it’s too early to say whether it’s practical and changing user behavior. Acco
rding to a recent survey, both Samsung and Apple users have been lukewarm about AI features, with most people finding them to be of little or no value in use.
It could be that the features are new or that the apps aren't that compelling yet.
The onus is on Samsung to figure out what really engages people. According to recent reports, the answer could be AI agents.
According to a recent Samsung demo video, a new AI agent in Galaxy AI can extend the capabilities of Galaxy AI, helping you do things like fill your schedule and make reservations. In other words, Samsung is tasked with delivering a better second-generation version of Galaxy AI.
The Role of Galaxy AI
A new version of Galaxy AI would be important for Galaxy phones, and also particularly meaningful for the future of AI smartphones.
With so much of the value of the future smartphone experience dependent on AI, Samsung, Apple, and Google will have to prove that their future is one worth investing in.
