Huawei has just announced price cuts on some high-end smartphone models to boost sales amid fierce competition in the Chinese market.
According to information from the South China Morning Post, the discount that Huawei has implemented this time is up to 20% and is applied on the Chinese company's official online store.
Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is on sale at an impressive discount at the end of the year of the Dragon.
Specifically, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra phone model with 1TB of internal memory, launched by Huawei in April 2024, has been reduced in price from 10,999 yuan (about 38.36 million VND) to 8,999 yuan (about 31.38 million VND), equivalent to an 18% reduction. The version with 512GB of internal memory has an even higher discount of up to 20%.
In addition, the Huawei Mate X5 foldable smartphone, which was launched in September 2023, is now on sale for 12,999 yuan (about 45.33 million VND), a 19% discount from its original price. According to data from market research firm CINNO, the Huawei Mate X5 has become the best-selling foldable smartphone in China since its launch.
Previously, in July 2024, Huawei also reduced the price of the Huawei Pura 70 phone by up to 1,000 yuan (about 3.49 million VND). The South China Morning Post noted that the latest price reduction came after Huawei launched the Mate 70 and Mate X6 series in November 2024 with the aim of expanding its market share in the high-end smartphone segment, where Apple is dominating along with a number of other competitors.
Huawei is fighting Apple in the high-end smartphone segment.
According to consultancy Canalys, Huawei's sales of high-end smartphones - models priced above 15.27 million VND - increased by 34% in the third quarter of 2024. This helped Huawei hold 33% of the high-end smartphone market share in China, on par with Apple's 52% market share.
With the Lunar New Year approaching, Huawei’s aggressive price cuts on its premium products could make competitors like Apple wary as consumers are certainly preparing their year-end shopping plans.
