According to Kuo, the iPhone 17 Air will be 5.5mm thick at its “thinnest point,” but may still feature a
protruding camera module. The phone is expected to feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera, with a single lens due to space constraints in the slim design.
It was initially reported that the iPhone 17 Air would cost more than the Pro models, but that now appears to be the case. It will be a mid-range model with a 6.6-inch dis
play and an A19 chip, which isn’t as fast as the A19 Pro chip expected in the iPhone 17 Pro models. It will also use a custom Apple modem chip that won’t support the fastest mmWave 5G speeds.

While Kuo predicted a thickness of 5.5mm, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman said in December that th
e iPhone 17 Air would be 6.25mm thick, which would be 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro models. Either way, the iPhone 17 Air would still be the thinnest iPhone to date. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max in September 2025.
