Selfie photo quality review
The Huawei phone's selfie camera is housed in a large pill-shaped cutout at the top of the screen, much like the iPhone 16.
There are actually two cameras in this area, both of which are used for taking selfies.
First, the main camera is capable of autofocus, has a 60-megapixel quality, and is paired with an 8MP portrait camera with 2x optical zoom.
Notably, the front camera has optical zoom capabilities. As for video, the camera shoots in 4K resolution, ideal for those who like to shoot vlogs.

The camera app offers 1x and 2x shooting modes, along with the standard 0.8x and full wide-angle modes; owners can also manually zoom up to 5x.
The camera has the usual portrait mode, beauty mode, and some smart eye tracking to improve focus. Again, this is a pretty good front-facing camera.

At 1x, images have plenty of detail, good exposure, and great color balance.
Autofocus is aided by eye tracking, a technique used by professional portrait photographers to capture sharp images.
Portrait mode is also excellent, with accurate edge detection and moderate background blur.
In short, the Huawei Nova 13 Pro's main selfie camera is great.
What about the rear camera?
There are three cameras on the back of the Huawei Nova 13 Pro: a 50MP main camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP wide-angle camera.
The highlight is the physical aperture control - you can switch between f/1.4 and f/4.0 manually. A similar setup is already present on the Huawei Pura 70 Pro and Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
