In April 2023, display industry analyst Ross Young published a roadmap showing that the iPhone 17
Pro models would feature under-display FaceID technology. However, in May 2024, the expert announced tha
the change had been delayed to 2026. This means that under-display FaceID technology could be introduced on
the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models next year.

Despite having FaceID under the screen, the iPhone 18 Pro models will still have a small hole at the top o
f the screen to accommodate the front camera, similar to the design of many new Android smartphones, includi
ng Google's Pixel 9 and Samsung 's Galaxy S24 . It is currently unclear whether these devices will be equipped with
the Dynamic Island feature, which hides the Face ID sensor like on current iPhone models.

Ross Young has previously expressed hope that the iPhone will soon have both FaceID and a front-facing
camera built into the display. If these changes are made, the iPhone could potentially achieve a truly all-screen design in the future.
