Apple may launch a new AirPods model with an infrared camera in 2026, enhanc
ing the spatial audio experience.
Apple is continuing to work on a future model of AirPods with a camera, a
ccording to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman. Gurman briefly mentioned in this we
ek’s Power On newsletter that
AirPods could have a small camera, but didn’t elaborate on what that camera would do.

According to supply c
hain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in a blog post in June 2024, Apple is expected to mass produce new AirPods with infrared cameras in 2026.
He said the infrared camera will be similar to the Face ID receiver on the iPhone.
