Samsung confirms development of tri-fold smartphone, reveals screen size promising many outstanding improvements.

At the Galaxy S25 launch event, Samsung officially confirmed that it is working on a tri-fold phone. While no details have been released about the device, it is expected to be introduced aroun
d Q3 2025, around the same time as the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models.
According to analyst Ross Young, Samsung's tri-fold phone will have a 6.49-inc
h display when folded. When fully opened, the device's screen could reach up to 10 inches in size.

Notably, Young also said that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 will have a similar 6.49-inch outer display, suggesting that Samsu
g is abandoning the narrow folding screen design it used on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and previous models.
It is worth noting that Samsung's tri-fold design will be different from Huawei's products, as Samsung's design is said to use a G-shap
ed folding mechanism. This means that the screen will fold inward on both sides withou
t exposing any part of the screen, promising to bring better durability to the device.

Samsung is also developing a new display and protective film specifically for the device, but production volumes are expected
to be limited due to the complexity of the manufacturing process, meaning the device is likely to be positioned as a high-end, expe
rimental product rather than a mainstream flagship.
The big question is how much this tri-fold phone will cost. Given that the Huawei Mate XT launched in China for nearly $2,800, it’s safe to assume that Samsung’s tri-fold will cost around the same.
