Since the launch of the iPhone 5 in 2012, the Lightning port has become
an icon of Apple, synonymous with convenience and superior data transfer spee
ds. However, over time, the Lightning port has become increasingly obsolete, especially when the European Union (EU) passed a law req
uiring all consumer technology devices to use USB-C ports by 2024.

To comply with this regulation, Apple began the transition to USB-C from the iPhone 15 series in 2023. And after just two ye
ars, with the launch of the iPh
one 16e, "Apple" completed this process, officially "killing" the Lightning port on all new iPhone models.
So from now on, iPhone users will no longer have to worry about compati
bility between different types of charging cables. Currently, USB-C has become a co
mmon connection standard on all Apple devices, from iPhone, iPad to Mac.
However, the "departure" of the Lightning port also means that the legendary Home button is officially a thing of the past. When the iPhone SE (third generation) was the last iPhone
model to retain the familiar Home button, and by discontinuing the production of this model, Apple officially closed a chapter in its design history.
