The Galaxy S26 Ultra may feature a camera feature previously seen on the Galaxy S9 series.
Samsung is known for introducing groundbreaking features to its products, but often abandoning them after a while. One of the features that could return in the Galaxy S26 Ultra's camera is variable aperture. According to popular leaker @IceUniverse, this feature is expected to be available only on the phone's main camera.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra may have a variable aperture camera.
Huawei and Xiaomi have already adopted the variable aperture feature on their flagships, but they weren't the first to introduce it. In fact, Samsung introduced dual aperture with the Galaxy S9 and S9+, allowing users to switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 depending on the lighting conditions.
Setting the aperture to f/1.5 allows more light into the camera sensor, reducing noise but giving a narrower field of view. Conversely, the f/2.4 aperture is ideal for daytime conditions when light is abundant or when a wider field of focus is needed.
While the dual aperture feature was present on the Galaxy S10 series, Samsung decided to remove it from the Galaxy S20 series. However, it seems that the South Korean company is planning to bring it back in the Galaxy S26 series.
