Tech experts had the opportunity to get their hands on the Tecno Spark Slim concept phone with an ultra-thin design.
Android manufacturers have joined the ultra-thin smartphone race with Apple's iPhone 17 Slim. The public is also expecting the Galaxy S25 Edge to launch in April. Now, Tecno has an even thinner phone - the Tecno Spark Slim, which is just 5.75mm thick.
The Spark Slim is more than just a slim phone. It's impressively built, with a stainless steel or ceramic back and Gorilla Glass front. The phone has a true unibody construction that feels great in the hand.
More impressively, inside the smartphone is a 5,200mAh battery, only 4.04mm thick. The battery can also be charged at up to 45W. In terms of photography, the device has two 50MP cameras with a notification bar-style LED light in the middle.
According to the experts, this product is really great and high-tech. Stainless steel has a mirror-like surface, giving a premium experience, although it attracts more fingerprints. On the other hand, the ceramic version does not leave many fingerprints and looks great all the time.
The Spark Slim weighs just 146g. That's because Tecno added some synthetic materials to the phone. Reviewers also praised the phone's rounded-edge aesthetic — a refreshing look in an age where phones are all about square edges.
The rounded design extends to the display as well. Up front is a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1220p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The display is capable of a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits, which is quite impressive and should be comfortable to use outdoors.
However, Tecno did not announce the chip running inside the Spark Slim, only confirming that the phone has an 8-core CPU (octa-core).
Sadly, the Techno Spark Slim is a concept and won't be coming to market in this shape and size. However, the company is keen to bring this charm to another product - which should hit the market this year!
