The iPhone 17 is expected to be a notable upgrade for both Apple and users thanks to the changes the company plans to make.
However, some elements in the design of this next product line are said to remain the same, unlike the rumors that created excitement for users earlier.
There is no way Dynamic Island will be reduced in the iPhone 17.
According to the latest information, the iPhone 17 will not have a smaller Dynamic Island version as previously rumored. Combined with the rumor of the possibility of the camera cluster design remaining the same, this means that the device will have a similar appearance to the current version, except for the iPhone 17 Air model.
Previous rumors have suggested that the iPhone 17 models will feature a smaller Dynamic Island, and removing the front notch is seen as a major step forward. One of these comes from analyst Jeff Pu, who claims that Apple will adopt “metalens” technology for Face ID on the iPhone 17 Pro, which will allow the Dynamic Island to be “dramatically narrowed.”
But the latest comment from famous analyst Ming-chi Kuo says that Dynamic Island will be “almost unchanged” on the iPhone 17. This means users will likely have to wait another year to see a change in the size of Dynamic Island.
This makes the iPhone 17 not have many design changes compared to its predecessor.
Dynamic Island, which Apple first introduced in 2022 on the iPhone 14 Pro models, marks a big step forward from the traditional notch. Not only is it less invasive, but it also integrates many useful tools. While Apple plans to develop an all-screen iPhone without any cutouts or notches, that still seems far away.
With the Dynamic Island shrinking, users will have more screen space while still maintaining the necessary functions. Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone 17 series with many other changes, including a new “Air” model that can compete with the Galaxy S25 Edge. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be significantly thinner than the current versions, possibly under 6mm, but this information has not been confirmed. In addition, Apple also plans to equip the iPhone 17 Air with a custom 5G modem, which may not be high in initial performance but will gradually improve, similar to what the company has done with its M series chips.
