Samsung is about to make its smartphones stand out from the competition

Smartphones have become an essential part of everyday life, and their security systems are increasingly important.

A security vulnerability in Samsung ’s Secure Folder feature has recently be

en discovered. While the issue has yet to be addressed by the brand, Samsung is w

orking on a major project: developing the industry’s first security chip with “hardware post-quantum cryptography” (PQC) technology.

The new chip, called S3SSE2A, was developed by Samsung System LSI, which is also responsible for the Exynos line o

f chips. It is designed to counter the threat posed by quantum computers and is

expected to hit the market after 2030. These machines are capable of decoding cur

rent public-key cryptography, rendering traditional security measures obsolete.

Samsung says the S3SSE2A chip could protect devices from the risks of quantum computing as early as 2028, before such compute

rs become commonplace. However, the announcement didn’t provide much information about the specific devices that will be equipped

with the chip.

At the launch of the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year, Samsung announced that devices in the S25 series would have PQC capabili

ies thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. With the connection between System LSI and the S3SSE2A chip, it is possible that future high-en

msung could integrate this chip into high-end Exynos chips, such as the Exynos 2600, for use in future S and Z series devices.

Still, there's a lot to be clarified about how the S3SSE2A chip will integrate with Sams

ung's existing security features, like Secure Folder.
