First, a rumor in February said that the iPhone 17 series will use the same Samsung M14 OLED display material set as all 2025 iPhone models, including the standard iPhone.
Previously, in December last year, a source on social network Weibo announced that all iPhone 17 models would support ProMotion. Previously, this feature was only available on iPhone Pro, helping to differentiate between the two iPhone lines.
Another leak on Weibo in March 2024 confirmed that the iPhone 17 generation will have a harder front glass, which will help prevent scratches better.

In January, analyst Ming Chi Kuo said there would be no change in the size of the Dynamic Island. On the contrary, in February, a source from Weibo said that the Dynamic Island could be reduced in size on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. By using a "meta-metal lens" to integrate the receiver and transmitter in the TrueDepth camera array, it would save space and reduce the size of the component.

CAD drawings of the iPhone 17 series also appeared in February by tipster Majin Bu. These drawings show that the iPhone 17 Pro models have a wider camera bump and a triangular layout for the cameras in the left corner.
Packing so much technology into an iPhone camera can be a challenge in creating an ultra-thin device. Space inside the iPhone is limited, and a camera bump would create a reasonable amount of space that could be used for better camera sensors and other technology without compromising too much on other hardware.
